  • Book an easy rider unless you're an experienced motorbike rider, the roads are notoriously difficult and dangerous
  • Bring cash, once you leave Ha Giang city there are no ATMs
  • Pack light with warm layers and waterproof clothing, weather in the Northern Highlands can turn surprisingly cold
  • Tip your easy rider generously (around $40–$60 on top of their fee) for keeping you safe on the journey

Best Time to Visit

September to November (autumn) and March to May (spring) offer the most comfortable riding conditions for the Ha Giang Loop, with dry roads, clear skies and mild temperatures.
